Our Family

Our adoptive family of four moved onto the farm in 2004. Then, unexpectedly we became a family of six in the fall of 2005 when Mackenzie and Tyler came to live with us with only two weeks notice. Our farm's plans and focus changed with the addition of a one and three year-old. Today, everything we do at Kindred Spirit Farm reflects who we are and what we do best.
Dennis Hoffman
Dennis is the enterprising force of our family. Life is an adventure and he's almost always ready to try something new. He's got the gift of gab and enjoys socializing, entertaining, lending a listening ear and helping others. Dennis claims to be "the jack of all trades and master of none." Basically, he does all the heavy work and field work on the farm. His joy comes from raising healthy, happy animals. And he provides their daily care. He is truly gifted in working with animals, particularly horses. He longs to have more time to spend with them. Off the farm, he works in sales. His artistic side comes out every so often. One example being the color of our buildings - rust orange with yellow trim and navy blue roofs!
Stacey York
Stacey brings order to the farm by organizing, planning, and scheduling. She selects the animal breeds, formulates the animal feed and free choice minerals, and guides our familys efforts to use natural methods to care for the animals. A college instructor off the farm, she enjoys the researching, investigating, and innovating involved with sustainable farming and permaculture. Her hands have been in soil as long as she can remember. Winter evenings are spent pouring over catalogs in order to select the next years vegetable, herb, and flower varieties. She loves to cook with fresh vegetables and herbs, find new recipes, and encourage others to expand their food horizons. Our handspinners flock of Leicester Longwool, Romney Marsh, and Angora goats is her favorite. She enjoys expressing her creativity through spinning their fiber and hand dying the yarn.
Joseph Hoffman York
Joseph is an 8th grader and is a big help on the farm. He helps feed and water the animals each day. His favorite part of living on the farm is the outdoor space and animals. He enjoys selling and delivering farm products and staffing the farm booth at craft and fiber festivals. He gives the best farm tours.
Vincent Hoffman York
Vincent is a sixth grader who sometimes misses the social life of the big city. On the farm, he likes saving endangered breeds, cuddling with the baby animals born on our farm, and playing outside. It was Vincent that go us into poultry and we fondly call him "Chicken Boy." He is really good a caring for the laying hens.
Mackenzie Hoffman York
Mackenzie is in kindergarten and says she likes Spring the best on the farm. She enjoys mutton bustin' at the fair and picking apples in the Spring. On the farm, she helps gather eggs, and plant and harvest the garden. She is looking forward to showing animals for the first time this summer.
Tyler Hoffman York
Tyler Hoffman York
Tyler, who just turned three in November, loves being outside. He can ride on the tractor all day with his daddy and can walk over a mile at a time on the farm. He loves the horses, particularly his pony whom he named "Meatball Bob."
